re: Gold TR thermostats!

I saw a post a few days ago talking about the 'sleeved' type of thermostat
for TR engined cars, that blanks off the by-pass when it opens, thus
ensuring that all the water is circulated through the radiator.
I just saw the aforementioned thermostats for sale in the Moss catalogue for
(wait for it) $33 !!!!!!!
Can you say STEEP ?

Do they really make that much difference - and if so, why did the stop
making them?
