Ben,

Check out this website:

http://www.autobodystore.com

The autobodystore is a website dedicated to helping amateurs do auto
painting and bodywork. If you don't find the answer you want on the
website, check out their BBS- either someone has asked the questions or
you may ask one yourself. Len Stuart runs the site and answers many of
the questions. The BBS has a good number of other professionals that
answer as well. Len sells a video that is supposed to be pretty good.

In a nutshell- if you want your paint to last, use a 2-pack paint.
However, be aware that these paints contain isocyanates and can cause
permanent lung damage if inhaled. Len sells a fresh air system for
about 400 bucks. After that your quality will be a function of
experience, patience, and equipment. 2000 dollars for equipment will
make most anyone into a decent painter provided they take the time to
learn how to do it and have the patience to follow the proper procedure.

Good Luck,
Bill
