After a lot of disassembly & re assembly, I started the Mog- only to find I
had no fuel pump or generator. I have a big old Healy? Lucas pump with the
big aluminum box and had grounded the box rather than the pump body. Worked
for three years but not the right way to do it. Simple solution move the
ground wire to the proper screw on the pump body- my mistake three years ago.
Glad the problem surfaced in my drive
.
Generator was another problem. I have seven control boxes (regulators of a
sort) & decided I could make one of the darn things work. Spent three days
(evenings) figuring just how it all works. Pretty neat. Pretty crude, but
pretty neat. Best explanation was from Autobook on Morgans. MGTC original
book stated to take it to a specialist. Haynes that I have (MGB, Landrover)
were for different three coil regulators.

you all may know this but thought I'd pass it along-

To check the generator- disconnect the D and F wires from the control box.
Clip the wires together and hook 'em to a voltmeter- clip other lead from
voltmeter to the generator casing. Positive lead to case if you have +
ground- negative if you have -gnd. Start the engine & let it idle. At 750 RPM
you should have around 15-16 volts. Don't race the engine...
