Jerry,

I made new door panels for my 4/4. I started with 1/4" ply but found it
too stiff. I went to 1/8" plywood and coated it with West System Epoxy so
the wood wouldn't rot. Next I used some 1/4" foam and leather to cover the
foam.

I didn't like the nails as they are hard to get at to remove, and nothing
really hold them in. So I opted for #8 wood screws and finishing washers.
Then an upholter friend of mine made me some black vynal (sp) snap on buttons
to cover the screw heads. That looks nice, but so do the screws and washers.

I personally like the screw idea, as it is easier to remove the panel if
you have to. I still need to find a way of aligning my doors. Especially
the drivers door. It sticks out way too much at the top (between 1/4 &
1/2").
I think I need to wallow out the mounting holes for the hing to A pillar and
use a metal backing plate. So I'll have to remove the door panels, and again
the screws make that easy.
