I've been thinking about the issue of what shocks to put on the front
of my 4 seater and I've heard (secondhand) that the factory original
equipment shocks are definitely better than the SPAX or Koni shocks. I'd
like to get your opinions before I proceed.

 Thanks in advance.

Hi Michael,

Who have you been talking to?

Original front shocks were Armstrong and the present ones are Gabriel
out of Tennessee. There is no argument that Gabriels are slightly better
than Armstrongs but neither are even vaguely close to the quality of
Koni or Spax.

Both Koni and Spax are adjustable...a good idea with any small car and a
must with a Morgan roadster. They are both gas..so unaffected by temps
and rough usage. Spax are slightly less expensive and much easier to
adjust as this can be done in a sec with a screwdriver while the shock
is on the car while Konis have to removed and twisted to adjust each
level..but Konis are mildly better shock for certain performance uses
and there are normally less adjustments necessary to front shocks than
rear shocks.

One proviso...gas shocks are more expensive and do not last as long as
oil shocks (though the adjustment ability extends this somewhat).
