Dear John:

The competition 4/4 series V used a Weber type DCD 38 28/36 which was the
same as the Ford Cortina GT from which the engine is sourced. The 28/36
refers to the choke sizes (it is a two choke carb) in mms.

I have one of these on my shelf which I took out and replaced with a
slighlty newer one for competion. These carbs have the manual chokes for
starting which is to be preferred to the later ones. You are welcome to
this carb I have if you can use it. You need a Ford GT inlet manifold to
fit it to your engine. You might get one at Old World Restoations (Penny
Bates) at 215-947-8720 or Morgan Spares 518-329-3877.

John Worral's book Original Morgan shows a picture with the set-up on page
71 but incorrectly says the carburettor is a Zenith - the Series V shown is
actually a cometition model (it was a standard Morgan option) with Weber
carb and competion exhaust (made by Morgan, I have one on my car) and the
Ford inlet manifold referred to above.

Good luck, Mike Virr
