I would like to thank you Tom for the plug on Obsolete Chevy Parts. I will 
pick up the phone and order their catalog.
The one thing you mentioned strikes a nerve with me regarding successful 
mail orders: A good mail-order house should have a good descriptive 
catalog.  I have about six different vendor catalogs and few of them have 
sufficient part descriptions.
An exploded diagram is the easiest way to describe a part, and as Tom had 
mentioned, is a valuable aide in determining where the part is located and 
how it is oriented.
As an example, I had an old '58 Mercedes which had (along with owners 
manual) a parts book consisting of exploded diagrams with adjacent numbers 
that were referenced on a parts list.  This made it a breeze when 
identifying and ordering spare or replacement parts.
For you vendors out there, I realize that detailed catalogs such as this 
would translate to extra cost, but in the long run, customer returns and 
lost customers are the more.

I'd like to put in a plug here for Obsolete Chevrolet Parts Co. in

800/248-8785 to order parts.  Their catalog has excellent cutaway and
exploded drawings of various truck components (engine, wheel, transmission,
rearend, etc.).  It's worth the price of the catalog just to see how all
these things are put together.  Also helps when working on 
something....just
to see which part goes where.  I have found the service with Obsolete Chevy
to be outstanding.  A guy there spent 20 minutes with me trying to find the
right ignition key blank for my truck.  Cost of the key was $2.
