[oletrucks] Restorods

If you think about it, there is a middle course between restore and rod
that
many of us pursue. While preserving the appearance and feel of our oletrucks,
many of us update the powertrain, brakes and other things.
As a personal example, I want my truck to look stock. If I had a time
machine
and could take the truck back in time, I would want it to look at home parked
on the street sometime in the mid fifties. The truck should not draw a glance
from the casual passerby.
Under the hood might be a 235 (or even a V-8), the trans might have 5
or 6
gears, disk brakes might stop it, and the cabin might be cooled by a compact
modern A/C unit, but it should look stock enough to draw no undue attention.
That's my goal and I'll bet a lot of others are doing the same thing. Are we
rodders or restorers? Yes!
