I tried placing this note a few days ago, I am afraid it did not go through.

My '53 pickup has stock front and rear suspension (with shorter radial tires).
What kind of jack can be obtained that will work (one that can be carried in
the truck to lift it up in case of a flat). I am not too concerned about
originality, I go more for practicality and safety. I bought a scissor jack
and it is quite hard to operate.

Also, my truck has the left side fender dent for the spare tire, but it did not
come with the bracket to mount it. Anybody has made one that can offer some
tips? I am not too fond of the side-mount spare anyway, probably will end up
looking for a regular fender.

There are several problems I have with the rear axle in my truck (from a 73
Nova) and I am looking into removing it and putting another one. I saw
recently in the "Poor Man's" site that a Ferd Granada or Maverick axle has the
right spacing between the spring pads to mount on the AD truck, has anybody
done that swap? A while back I also read in one of the magazines (Classic
Trucks, I think) that the only rear axle they knew that had the correct apring
pad spacing was the earlier Cadillac Seville. Again, anybody out there who has
experience with this swap and might care to comment?
