I'm using AC GF-48 gas filter 854444.  It should still be available at local 
parts store for about $20.  It has glass bowl with pleated paper element.  
Originals had sintered bras element or the "stone' type, some porus material. 
 Paper should do a good job of keeping fine rust out of the carb.
