That sounds right.  I recently put Firestone 215R85-16s on my '50 and
compared them to the 33-12.5x15s on my '73 and the 215s were about a 1/4
inch shorter.  The 215s look real good as a stock tire and are very close to
the 6.5x16 bias ply I pulled off.  Don't know how any of this compares to
original 15s.

In my personal experience, the stock 16" tires that I sold to another member
of this list were about 33" and didn't cause any problems.
