I'm not all that familiar with what was installed on the heavier
rigs....like a fire truck.....but I believe the Caddy's used a 502....should
be able to get someone from that "neck of the net" to shed some light on the
subject.

I didn't know that Chevy ever put a 502 in anything....as far as I know,
the big gas powered trucks got the 366 or 427 truck motors, which are
tall deck blocks, 4 rings per piston, dual thermostats, steel cranks, 4
bolt mains, oval port small valve heads.  The heads may work on yours,
in fact they might be better than 454 heads, as they were designed for
hard work.
