    Rob asked how to remove chrome plating. I have had this done by a chrome 
shop before powdercoating in the past with good results. Further in the past 
I has tried roughing up the plated surface with sandpaper and then painting 
the surface, but the results were not totally satisfactory as some of the 
paint flaked off.
