I have been a member of this list for the last 3 years since I acquired my
'53 truck. I enjoy all the insights both technical and of human nature that
the members of the list share with others. Recently with the loss of my
father I lost interest on my project truck altogether and was about to give
the truck away, but my wife and friends talked out of it, they reminded me
that my father had put some work on the truck and that he would be very
proud to see it finished. Finally after 3 months of having the truck sitting
in the garage without any progress, this last Saturday the "truck bug" bit
me again and started working on it. One thing led to another and installed
the engine and the cab in about 4 hours, of course I had the help of a
teenage neighbor that who has been dying to "help me" work on the truck.
Another thing that help me get back on the truck spirit was reading the
messages that are posted to the list. Again thanks for your posts and
answers.
Actually one more thing, I do have a question. When I removed that cab I
don't recall seeing any shims as part of the cab mounts, but on the cab
mount kit that I got from Chevy Duty, there were some metals shims included
with the kit, I was looking at the factory assembly manual and did not see
any shims. The question is: Are these shims necessary?

Thanks again,
