Roger,

I own a '53 GMC 1/2-long 5-window W/Hydra-matic, a '50 GMC 1/2 ton short bed
5-window and I'm soon to be the owner of a '48 GMC 3/4 ton 5-window. I'm
currently building a turbocharged and injected GMC 270 (which this list has
been an awesome help with!) to go in the '48 which will be my daily driver
when it's done. I personally never had any specific affection for the GMC's,
but as it worked out, I got a good deal on a matching pair and they grew on
me. I don't think many people view GMC's as rare, though many are, because
the name is very common and the division's still making trucks. I think GMC's
are just set apart by their mostly small, but sometimes big differences with
chevies and that might attract certain people wanting to be different, but
still have alot of the perks that come with having a vehicle built by the big
three.

All things considered, Chevies and Jimmies are pretty much equal. GMC always
had the performance and better quality while Chevies looked better most of
the time and cost less.

You find the old GMC's still working as hay haulers and farm trucks while
most of the chevies are dead in driveways and fields or hot rods. The number
of original, unrestored, working trucks I see are GMC's 5 to 1.
