They're self adjusting as far as "tightness" goes. Slam the door harder
(shudder....) or you might want to look at the condition of the latch
mechanism (you'll see a curved ratchet piece inside where the ridges may be
worn out).

I don't see any way to do it short of building up some weld on the striker
plate.
