I still cannot determine whether two engines I have are 261's or 235's. On my 50
½ ton, the numbers are between the distributor and the draft tube, not so on the
other engines. There are some casting pads for a side mount, maybe? Where else
can I look for the casting numbers? I have cleaned the entire length of the
right
side of the motor. To the from t of the draft tube is a cast in "GM" and a 14.
The numbers on the pad to the left (rear) of the distributor are not the engine
numbers. I don't want to pull the head to find out. BTW, what is the bore and
stroke for the 261? How far can it be punched out or stroked?
