I also have a 216 and I can not get it to hit above 45 (without a downhill).
I do not have much compression but I am running 650/16 wheels.  Did you
rebuild your 216 lately?  What do you have in the rear.  I have a 4 speed
stock.

Mike,
    I have a 216 that is a daily driver.  I've had it since late February.
I
love it.  It purrs like a kitten.  The longest Interstate drive I've taken
is
perhaps 55 miles.  Speedo doesn't work, but my wife was following behind and
said that I was doing 55-60 with the original rear-end which I think is
4:10.
 I drive it all over our town of 100,000.  Many trips to work and the lumber
yard.  If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
