Are you saying adding a bushing to the firewall to prevent the chafing
against it? If so, I think you will just be transferring the wear to other
places on the linkage since there needs to be some free floating going on
between the cab and the chassis.

Its my opinion to think twice before putting undercoating on anything. It
works nicely for awhile (providing its applied correctly and condensation
doesnt seep in between it and the surface) but when it deteriorates and its
time to remove it, you will be learning new words to add to your vocabulary.

Of course as usual, I am an advocate of doing the job right when you have it
this far apart. If there is any areas that you are uncomfortable with,
imagine how uncomfortable it will be once its all together and you wished
you had done it right the first time. Not many of us taking it clear down to
the frame. Those that are are generally turning out some really nice work.
