Neil,
It might have been a mechanical turn signal, but I would not expect ne
of those as late as '46. I would have been an arm usually with a circle
at the end that meant the same thing as hand signals, up-right turn,
straight-left turn, down-stop. It kept you from having to stick your arm
out on the cold-cold rain.
Given the multiple owners most of these trucks have had, it may have
been something that was transferred off a 1924 REO when it was traded in
for that '46 :-)
