When mig welding you only need 12 to 15 lbs. of gas. 
That is if there is no wind or breeze from a fan, then
you may need more gas.  Also if you don't already
know, your nozzle should only be an inch away from
what you are welding tilted to 15 deg. and
perpendicular to your weld seam.  When the heat, gas
and wire speed are correct it should create a red worm
(the weld) and you should hear a sizzle.  Make sure
your metal is clean or it will pop and sputter.
