The exhaust manifold should be the rusty color it is
now...they painted them engine color, at the edges
at least, but it burns off rather quickly.  The
intake should be engine color...probably grey?  The
carb should not be painted, if you do paint it the
paint will peel off from the gas after awhile
anyways.

The puddle of gas in the manifold is normal,
although it probably shouldn't be there if
everything is as new...don't worry about it, though.

The roar could be from wheel bearings, or the
rearend gears/bearings.  You'll probably want to
overhaul all that stuff eventually.  It may be a
good idea to clean, inspect, and repack the front
wheel bearings soon, and pull the rear axles out to
check the condition of the bearings.
