Re: Art Houser's rearends  www.rearman.com

Has anyone on this list ever used one of these rearends or know of
anybody that has? I have been trying to get a straight answer regarding
availability of the 3:90 gears for a 47 - 54 AD 3/4 ton pickup for over
a year. His website offers one but has anyone ever actually installed
one? Someone said that you had to change your rear housing when
installing his 3:90 gears. If so you might as well get a whole new
rearend from a junkyard.

Comments?

Try Art Houser's Rear End Service (houser@rearman.com; URL www.rearman.com;
Phone 1-888-560-2127). They can convert a 3/4 ton rearend to 3.90 and you
can replace the whole pumpkin. Yvonne Keller is the one to talk to.

I don't know if they're original or not, but the tires are 8-19.5 on the
back and 8-17.5 on the front. I'm guessing that is 19.5 inch and 17.5 inch
at the bead? Measuring with a tape measure, the lip of the rim is 20 inch
and 18 inch respectively.

What is a brownie unit?

And who makes an overdrive that will mate to the original transmission?

Thanks for the help!
