Durwood,
       There isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with a generator.  I would 
check the brushes to make sure that they are not worn down all the way.  I 
got a pair of brushes for my generator at a local auto electric shop for $2.  
Flaps probably for $4.
Take a piece of emory cloth and clean the area of the armature where the 
brushes make contact.  I also cleaned the grooves out. 

       I replaced my regulator (we are talking 6 volt?) for $22 at Farm & 
Fleet.  It is a Wells and it did the trick.  It came with full instructions 
and was a simple inexpensive fix. I tinkered with the contacts on my old one 
and it helped for a little bit but it needed to be replaced.

       These services are explained very well on pages 12-8 through 12-18 in 
the Shop Manual.
