I'm building a flatbed on my truck some may know. I need 7 or 8 ft long ramps
for it to pull on vehicles/tractors. I am now cutting up a 2-ton GMC tractor
cab that was lengthened years ago. I wondering if these frame rails which are
around 10-12" tall (haven't measured yet) and are long enough would be enough
support turned flat, open end down would be enough to hold vehicle weights. I
could run another angle iron corner down, the full length in center to beef it
up or any other mods suggested. I could also apply a 2 x 12 over the top full
length and have it's strength and surface too. That's not as wide as I was
going to have, was thinking 16" or so, but would work I think. I'm trying to
make these the side rails on truck bed too and keeping them light enoug to
move around when using. I could use a 2 x 4 on edge along the 2 x 12 for more
width and better strengh too maybe. Then the frame pcs would be more of a
stiffening device for a wood ramp that way. What you think??
