I am looking for a new fuel pump for my 1946 gmc with a 228cid.
I have been looking through the catalogs, there seems to be a few to choose
from?
I have a few questions, I hope some of you can answer.
1. Is the fuel pump off the 228 GMC engine the same as the chevy 216?
2. There are metal top and glass top. What was origninal? What are the
pros and cons to each? which ones last longer, which one is more reliable?
3. Some listed are doubel action?? what does that mean?
4. Some I found talk about wiper vacuum, how does the fuel pump affect the
vacuum wipers? I have never heard of this, I would like to learn more about
it.
5. who has the best deals on fuel pumps? The local shop in town has one
that fits the 216 engine for $27. If it's the same as the 228, I'll
probably go with that, the catalogs I've seen so far are all in the $50
range.
