Carl--

The 56 trucks originally used two V emblems on the front fenders, while
the 57 trucks went to the V on the hood emblem.  You could use a 57 V8
hood emblem on a 56, but it would not be original.  The 56 and 57 hood
emblems are the same for 6 cylinder trucks (as far as I know;
corrections welcome!).

The 56 parts suburban I got recently is an original V8 truck with the
fender V emblems (no, they are not for sale).
