Bruce and John, Thanks for the reply.  I have a question about what do mean 
by wired in paralllel or series?  I have attached the right side wires to 
the terminal post of the door contacts of the left side. I will try the 
direct ground today to see what happens.  Will let you know.

I am using the stock contacts on the left side which works fine. On the 
right side I had to use some aftermarket contacts, two posts with one wire 
to a post, the same as on the left side.  How do you run a ground from the 
barn door to the frame? Should I get a three post contact and use one for a 
ground?
