A buddy of mine is installing a floor shifter in his '54 3100. The engine and
transmission are from a '55 1st with an open driveline. The '55 was a column
shift, and the '54 was a four-speed, so he decided to install an aftermarket
floor shift in the truck.

The problem is that the 1st-reverse shift arm on the transmission can only be
positioned with the lever pointing up, instead of down. This makes the
1st-reverse part of the H shifter pattern backwards, with 1st at the top, and
reverse back by the seat.

Has anyone else run into this problem, and come up with a solution? We're
wondering if you can take the side cover off, and then flit the shift
mechanism over. Anyone tried it?
