Hi - My 15 yr old bought a 51 3100 last year in hopes of fixing it up as a
daily driver. It runs, and the body is OK, but there are some issues that
we need some advice on.
Is there somebody out there from the Denver area who would look over our
project and give us some advise on the best way to proceed?
Main questions are - should we update the engine, transmission? Gear ratio
is very low - don't ever need first - can we update, and with what? Should
we upgrade to disc brakes on the front? What donor parts should we look for
in any of the conversions above?
Remember, my son is only 15 and has very little money, so he wants to do
this work himself as much as possible. He wants to do a good job, but also
wants to do it the least expensive way possible. He also needs to figure
out how to prioritize the work based upon his income, which is very small.
I thought I would be able to help him with his master plan, but don't really
know how to start, so if there is anybody nearby who would be willing to sit
down with us for a short time and help us plan out this work, we would both
really appreciate it.
Thanks very much in advance, Rob and Kiel Parkinson - Denver area.
