Attached are a links to a few pictures of our "new" '51 Chevy that I
dragged home last night. The truck was set up, probably 10 years or so
ago, with a 283 V8, 4-speed tranny, Ford 9-inch rear end, independant
front suspension, bucket seats, tilt stearing, aluminum wheels, etc. It
was put in storage in '95 when the motor was blown. The guy I bought it
from purchased it a couple of years ago, before he got married and now
didn't have the time to fix it up. As it stands now the body, including
the bed, is solid, just needing repainting, plus I've got the hood
(which was stripped to bare metal) and rear bumper which aren't in the
pictures. It looks as if the glass and rubber seals were replaced when
the truck was first fixed up so they are in great shape. The truck also
came with an early '80s Chevy 305 V8, an '86 Oldsmobile 307 V8 and turbo
350 transmission, bell housings for the both the Chevy and Olds engines
(the truck originally had the 4-speed in it) and a bunch of misc. parts
including power steering pump and AC compressor and lines for the Olds
engine, GM HEI distributors for both engines and a set of "rams head"
exhaust manifolds that must have been on the original 283 which I
imagine would bolt up to the 305 and the exhaust sytem on the truck.
I've got to figure out what engine to install, the 307 looks to be in
the best shape, but is wider than the 305 and I only have a flywheel for
the 305 if I want to stay with the 4-speed (I have a flex plate and
torque converter for the 307) plus I need to figure out what all the
parts are that I have for it - sort of like a surprise package! At
least I figure that it should be worth the $900 that I paid for it, plus
it was located only 5 miles from where I live - even though I found it
on eBay.

Here are links to the pictures. The first shows the front of the truck
(I have all the headlights and chrome that aren't shown), the second
shows the back (the truck has a hard cover over the bed which is
partially open because of the box of parts in the back) and the 3rd
shows the engine and some of the other parts that came with the truck.
Now all I need to do is move the '48 Dodge pickup out of my garage
today (after moving the '50 Dodge 1-ton out of the way of the back
garage door - all with my '49 Chevy wrecker) and stick the Chevy in so I
can go to work
