On monoleaf...the Corvette has had front and rear monoleaf suspension since 84 
at least;
I've never heard of anyone hurt or killed due to a failure...of course, I've 
never known
anyone that put 1000 lb of stuff in the back of a vette either...so there's not
functionally equivalence to truck usage either.
