Bill,

I just did the exact thing you are about to do.  It was one of the most 
satisfying things I have done to my truck.  What you do is install the latch 
in the body with the installation kit you bought.  Then put the plate that 
came with the kit on the door.  Cutting out the old sheetmetal in the door 
and welding in the flat plate.  Then close the latch and shut the door.  
Then from inside the cab, place a pencil through the closed latch and draw a 
circle on the door.  Then open the door and you will see the mark that you 
just made.  Center punch the mark and drill a half inch hole or 5/8.  When 
you put the sticker bolt in the little adjustment you have from the hole 
being oversized will give you all the adjustment you need.  Let me know if
