I noticed you have a heidt's front end. I have a heidt's also in my 55.
Can you tell me where your motor mounts are positioned in relation to
your cross member. When I had my cross member installed I had them
install motor mounts at the same time and they are positioned in the
center of the cross member. I have seen some that are mounted just
behind the cross member also. I want to make sure they are correct
before I proceed with the build up. Thanks for your help.

Can't help you on ther non-power set up. I have a Heidt's MII IFS on my
56
TF and I have power steering as well. I don't think I would want to be
with
out the power steering! I wasn't much hassle and the hoses and pump are
all
stock GM or Ford items. I already had the GM pump from my donor and I
bought the MII rack used off of e**y for 30 bucks. I did buy a new
valve
and spring for the pump that matches the GM pump pressure to the MII
rack.
I got that from R.B.'s for less than $10 I think.
For what little hassle it might be, I think it is worth it. My truck
drives
very well in town and on the highway. It now has very nice manners for
a
truck.

To add to Mark's question, does anyone have an opinion on power steering

one of the Mustang II units? I have pretty much decided to put in a MII
unit in my 49 burb. One of the suppliers here in Denver recommended

with the non power steering unit. He didnt think it was required. It

make parking a little harder, but might improve the feel at speed. It
would
be cheaper and less hassle to install too. Any one installed the non
power
steering MII front end?
