6 cylinder trucks with standard transmissions had floor starters.  Hydra-Matic 
transmission equipped 6 cylinder trucks had key operated starters.

Did 6 cylinder trucks have a floor starter in '55-'59? 

If so, I would assume that the 6 cylinder ignition switch did not have
a "Start" position. Did the 6 cylinder switch have an "Accessory"
position?
