I'm no expert on this subject but have learned this about the rear end in my
'55 1st series, which I think is the same as you TF guys have.  Use the
stock rear end.

First, from a pro drag racer friend of mine, the 14 bolt rear end is bullet
proof.  He raced a '58 pickup for many years.

Second, it has 3:90 gears and new gears are available.

Third, the brakes are the same as used up to 1972.

Feel free to correct me on this, y'all.
