The 235 in 61 or 62 had power steering brackets and pumps that bolted to the
two front head bolts. They were studs on top and the pump was held on by
nuts. You can put it on older engines if you get studs with it, BUT it
requires the 55 and later deep pulley set-up and there is a second pulley on
crank pulley that bolts on front, so you need to get that off the later
engine also. I don't believe it will fit in 54 or older unless you move
radiator ahead in same way they do when putting in a later engine. You could
also get the set-up from 55 and up cars that ran off the back of generator.
These are very wanted by Tri-five boys and expensive if found. This would
rule out an alternator also.
I say drive w/out. These trucks steer pretty easy as long as you have good
king-pins and linkage and keep greased.
