I'm upset about a situation that happened the other day with The Truck &
Car Shop in Southern California. I received a 10% off flyer from them and
went to their website and ordered about $300 worth of stuff that I need
to fininsh my '54 1/2 ton. I downloaded the catalog and ordered my items.
A couple of days later, I received a call from them telling me that the
website pricing was not correct and that about half of the dollar amounts
I had ordered, in fact had gone up in price about 10% - basically a wash
over the 10% discount flyer I received. I spoke with a manager who at
no point in time, apologized or even gave any level of understanding as
to my perspective on this as she simply said we don't have time to keep
our website current as it's done by an outside person.

If you're going to run a business and have a presence on the web, you have
a responsibility to be current on all aspects. If there is a mistake, my
opinion is that you should honor it. I know some of you are not going to
agree with me and I'd love to hear your rationale - to me, this is a "bait
and switch" as it draws people to order from you and then, at the last moment,
you tell them "oops," we forgot to adjust our prices by the amount we're
giving you as a discount.

Many of us who are involved in this hobby are educated, sophisticated and
savvy business people which affords us the luxury of participating in such
hobbies. I'm tired of these suppliers thinking we're a bunch of yester
year's farmers who will simply rollover and accept this.

I cancelled the order for the items that had gone up in price.
