The stuff I put in only had ONE tip, like this picture:

And I *did* install that tip pointing to the outer edges of the door.

So, I think you just confirmed that Steele Rubber Products DOES have
the "right" weatherstrip because theirs has a long and a short tip!

Do you have a larger picture of the shape of the weatherstrip shown in
the assembly manual?
