Hi Guys,
My new 350/330 HP Chevy crate engine has a couple of problems.

1. At idle there is a significant ticking sound in the passenger side
exhaust. This can be heard coming from the muffler and the pipe foreword of
it all the way up to the manifold. No tick is heard on the top side, even
when using a stethoscope. The heat riser is open and a compression check of
that side indicates 135-140-130-140 which would seem to indicate no huge
exhaust valve leak. Any ides?

2. There is a significant whine from the engine above 2000 RPM. It sounds
very much like a gear drive cam but is silent below 2000 and gets noisy above
that. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis McGillis
