I've been lurking here for years....its a bit scary how many years, when I
think about it.
I HAD a flawlessly perfect 59' short bed step side that I salvaged from an
old timers yard for almost free, and had stored it at a friend of a friends
lot. It was supposed to be temporary but one thing led to another, waiting
for another friend to build a garage and I was going to put it
together/modify/paint it etc once he got done
Years go by, and suddenly I'm told I need to make a decision about what to
do with the truck. I was gung ho to get going on it and then hear the bad
news. In that time, where the truck was being stored, a "helper" for the
person that owned the property was "rearranging" stuff around
Long story short, the person apperently thought that the old ugly truck was
a junker and moved it it with a bulldozer.
So now you see why I say I HAD a perfect 59'. Now its not so perfect. I
went up and looked at the damage today. It made me want to cry!
so now that I have told my story of woe, on to the question. I'm looking
for, hopefully local, some used bits. If I can get them for a reasonable
price, I will forge ahead and try to fix what is left of the poor thing
If I can't get teh bits, I will probably junk it, I'm very sad to say
I know I can get most of this stuff "brand new" but it would probably add up
quickly.
But here's the list:
Front right fender
Both inner fender wells
Left rear fender (with spare tire cut out)
Sections of the front grill support....I would have to point it out on a
picture, but its the long skinny piece that runs along the bottom
I MIGHT need headlight backing/buckets. It was hard to tell if it was going
to be easily salvagable. In general, the front grill section might need
more than I'm listing. Hard to say until I try assembling/fixing what I
have
Thankfully, the beauty piece that is the "grill" is fine, with lights,
buckets etc. Its the stuff behind it that is in question
Sorry for the long post. I hope this story didn't depress anyone as much as
its depressed me. I'm going to go cry into a beer can or six.
