This is all true, but do these cabs have time to let the engine cool of
and let all the oil run down back into the pan? For me, it takes about
4 hours before all the oil is back in the pan. I can tell in the
morning when oil hits the engine after being pumped. If I start my car
up from anywhere up to 4 hours after being warm, there is still oil in
the engine, thus not near as much wear. But as other messages have
pointed out, everybody has different experiences. I am sure that if
proper oil and filter changes are made with regular oil, there will not
be many problems for a while. Dave C. also brings up a point that his
switch to synthetic netted better times. I have also seen tests that go
to prove the same results. Now in my experiences, I have not seen hp
gains, but that is not to say there are none. I just think that if they
are, they will not be large. But it is a testament to syn. that just by
chaning the oil, faster times were made. Also, I agree with Gary's
points. The syn. oil after coming out, looks more like what you put in
compared to regular. And if you are changing your own oil, even with
syn. oil, you are still saving over jiffy lube. Like I said before, I
just like to get that extra nth of performance. Wether it be engine
protecion, hp gains, smoothness, etc... As far as the mobil one filters
goes, I am not sure if the $10 price tag is justified. In my current
opinion, I think no. The oil makes more of a difference, all the filter
has to do is to try and keep the oil clean by using filtering techniques
learned from more than just the auto industry.
