| Must preface by saying I love both, and my first love is/was my first MGB,
a rubber bumpered '78.
However, having owned both - sorry, no way.  It's a lot easier to make a
chrome bumpered one ride softer than a rubber one handle properly.  It's a
bitch to get around the improper polar moment of inertia (ie Baja-capsize
ride height) of the later cars.  
You want a soft ride, buy a used Cadillac or some other Barco-lounger on
wheels.
