Kevin--

I , too am a novice. I, too, have welding to do on my '67 Sprite that has
rampant body cancer, meaning welding a number of body panels in. I had a
welder come to appraise my situation. He just looked and shook his head, and
said, "David you have well over a thousand dollars worth of welding to do
here. You would better serve yourself if you were to buy a little MIG welder
and learn how to use it." That piqued my interesst and I studied and
studied--and found a little MIG welder at TiP in Youngstown, Ohio--maybe not
far from you. Off their showroom floor I saved about $50, paying just $319
for the welder, and $ 89 for the gas bottle.

Anyway, Ihave found MIG welding to be a very easy thing to do. I am still a
novice, am still learning, and have yet to weld a MAJOR project like floor
panels (both of which I will have to do), but I am gaining confidence that I
can do it. What little welding Ihave done with the MIG has been successful.

Anyway, please think about and weight this option. It seemedthe best for me.
