You'd be surprised.  My brother owns a machine shop and has spent many
hours repairing "mistakes" made by his employees.  Last fall, he finally
fired all of them (it was costing more to fix the mistakes than to pay
their salaries).  He hired his son and his nephew (both 17 years old),
trained them himself, and no longer runs into those problems.  He has
found that qualified machinists are hard to come by.  

If they screwed up, make sure they make it right!
