Ensure that the little bullet-shaped thing at the end of the spring is
clean of any casting flash or other roughness. You want it to slide
smoothly in its bore in the block. Clean it up a little with a file if
necessary.
I'm thinking of the A-series, but I bet your 1500 works the same way.
