Even the cops are better. Once, in 1989 traveling between Santa Fe and
Albuquerque in a friend's Mustang GT 5.0, a Ford LTD type plain wrapper
passes us at 95+. My friend catches up, and we do 100 - 105 with the guy
for 45 or 50 miles on a deserted section of I-25. No racing, just 2 cars
doing a "reasonable and proper" speed in the desert with no traffic. When
we pull off the highway in Albq, we are at a light on the off ramp and the
LTD rolls down his window and motions to us. We roll ours down and he
holds up his badge and says "speed limit's 55 around here, right boys?".
No ticket, no nothing, just common sense.
