Larry,
I don't have direct experience of this kit but from your description, are
you sure that you have been supplied with the correct springs ?  They sound
way too long or too heavy duty. Did you check their free length before you
installed ?
Another simple check is to free one end of the telescopic shock absorber,
(damper or whatever you happen to call it over your way! ) (gg)  Then try
for suspension movement.  Good luck
