Larry,

Perhaps the helium (Healeyum? --sorry Amy) in your tires is causing so much
lift that they are already compressing the springs?

All seriousness aside, it seems there's something interfering with the
wheel, so try to install a wheel with the jack stand under the front and the
spring on that side compressed by the jack.  Doing this at several stages of
compression should let you see where it's binding.

Repost with mistakes corrected....

You guys are going to think I'm nuts I'm beginning to think so myself.

All wheels on the ground, upper control arm on the stops. I can put a floor
jack under the kingpin and one stroke lifts both FRONT wheels off the
ground.

No spring compression, well maybe 1/4 inch.

All wheels off the ground, two jack stands in back, one centered in front,
wheels off. I can put a floor jack under the kingpin and compress the spring
on either side.

WTF?
