i had asked a few days ago about what the original color of the valve cover is
on a 1977 Midget 1500cc engine. I received two responses; Dove Gray and
Robin's Egg. Then I looked at the original sales brochure for the car and the
only photo of the engine shows it in a red-orange, which is the color of mine,
although it is mostly peeled off.

Did they supply the 1500 with different color valve covers? I guess that's a
possibility, but knowing the cost-cutting corners BL took, it doesn't seem
likely.

The red-orange really clashes with the bright red re-spray that the PO did on
the car, especially since she left the engine bay BRG! (It's really very
Christmasy!) I might either go gray, or try to match the red of the body.

Sorry to all you purists out there, but this is a fun car for me, and the
funds just aren't there to return the car to its original color. Besides, I
like the bright red body. It's more visible, too. If I get really abitious,
and if I have to pull the engine, I may spray the engine bay red also. The
trunk was painted textured-black by the PO.

If you have a 1500, or even a Spit as your second car, please let me know what
color your valve cover is.

TIA,
